Pears can be catgorised into two types: the European pear (P. communis), and the Asian pear (P. pyrifolia and P. ussuriensis). EUROPEAN PEAR - FLORDAHOME It came from Florida and needs little chill. The climate of southern Arizona is suitible for it .It is not only juicy but has sweet and smooth texture.Blooms earlythus harvest in July/August .Gives good result when polinated.Hood is recommended.
ASIAN PEAR - Shinko Pear
is the most fire blight resistant of the Asian pears. The medium to large fruit has excellent, rich, sweet flavor. Shinko is a brownish-green pear that ripens during mid-August through mid-September b. (450 Chill ) Plant Care With properwill bear care pear tree fruits in phoenix but probably it will do better at higher elevation. I have both Asian and European varieties planted about 2 years ago. Each plant is grafted with 4 different varieties . Both Asian and European pear have few fruits this year.
