Subtropical Fruits

Desert environment is usually not best suited for subtropical plants. With proper care, frost protection and proper sun exposure you can grow some of the subtropical fruits in lower desert of southwest.

Subtropical plants grow well in fertile, decomposed ,deep loam soil. They will not survive in locations with poor drainage.

Another challenge in lower desert of southwest is the soil,which is very alkaline ,high in salt and low in organic matter.


If you are planning to grow subtropical fruits, be well informed. Talk to the people who are growing subtropical fruits in lower desert of southwest and create a micro climate in your garden which is suitable for these plants
